It is an independent council of Girls on the Run International, which has a network of more than 200 locations across the United States and Canada.
Girls on the Run of Greater Knoxville was the first Girls on the Run independent council founded in Tennessee. It started with just three sites but now operates in more than thirty schools and clubs in Knox, Blount, Loudon, Anderson, and Sevier counties serving more than 300 girls per spring and fall semester.
The organization is an independent, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization funded by corporate sponsorship, donations, special events, grants, and fees. Fees are charged for participation in the program, but scholarships make the program available to all who are interested. We are proud to say that we are able to supply scholarships to more than half of our participants each semester and we never have to turn a girl away!
